Recently I have been having problems with the magical sky pixie, I either get a plinky plonky effect or the usual 'no satellite signal is being recieved'. Today I've changed the connections on both ends of both cables and from what I can see and feel there is little chance that the dish has moved slightly. There is a straight run from dish to box with no connections between and apart from a spider that was on the dish there is nothing blocking its view.

The stage that I am at now is that I have good signal strength but virtually no quality, any ideas on what would cause this before I have to suck up my manly pride and get an engineer round. Thank you for pointing me in any useful direction smile

I'd try swapping the LNB first and then try another box if that fails.

Take it step by step. New cables first, cheapest thing to do. Then LNB. Then try a new dish, finally a new box. When I had issues the Sky engineer just changed everything and the signal strength and quality doubled and then some.

I've just realised that I have a quad lnb, do all four connections do the same thing? It's too dark for me to go crawling around outside for now.

Yes. Swap any for any other. Dont forget to unplug first. Try swapping the backend of the Skybox first.

I tried swapping them around and ended up with a worse signal than I started with, was going to order a new LNB on ebay but cant put up with the wait until the weekend for it to arrive. I'm planning on running into B&Q on the way home from work tomorrow and getting a generic ross LNB that I can see on their website, unless anyone knows somewhere I can pick up a better quality one from? Thanks for the pointers so far smile

Have you tried taking about an inch off cable and new ends at LMB ? might be a water ingression problem and if so the inner cable will be black !!

That wouldn't be good, there isn't much spare out there. It looked ok when I changed the ends but I didn't inspect it too closely, shall have a look in daylight.
