Just tried a forced download of the guide, all appeared to be working, but after rebooting, the guide is the same, forced the download by rebooting the box with the "backup" button depressed.
Anyone else had problems doing this?

Assuming that there are some sky users still on here

You can't force it to happen, sky are staging the up date so they don't overload the support desks with questions.

You'll just have to wait your turn I am afraid.

It depends on your box at the moment. Only Amstrad (bloody auto-correct!) DRX 890 and 895 (1TB) boxes can get it. Check the version number in system details (services, 0 3) and if it isn't 4F31 then your box can't have it yet. If its 4E3xxx then you'll never get it I'm afraid!

Its kind of better but not massively so. You're not missing a massive amount.

If you have turned off the Mini TV to get more channels shown per page then its actually a downgrade IMO as turning off the Mini TV (Which is still an option) gets the same amount of channels per page as with it on and less than you get before. If you have the Mini TV turned on then it is better because you can see a few extra channels

Other than that very similar

The main reason I want it is because I understand it interacts with the iPad more?

I Don't have an iPad so couldn't say. so is it controlling your box or something even cooler than that? TBH I would imagine watching stuff is already covered by SkyGo so can't imagine sky doing streaming locally but I may be wrong.

Not SURE, but I believe it may be able to interrogate what you have saved on your box.

Had sky installed yesterday, not sure which EPG I've got, but I can control it from my ipad. Change channels, fast forward, rewind, pause etc. Can also access my 'planner' and set recorded programs to play.

Was that possible with the old epg?

well that answers my question. Sounds cool but long term how often would you actually use an iPad over the sky remote (or in my case my pronto)
and I thought remote record was cool :-)

The iPad control is quite useful as you could run a HDMI cable to another TV and not need to run a coax for the remote control as well.

Bringing back an old subject but I've just noticed a brilliant change I'd not noticed before.

You can now use series link on recorded programs, not just while they are recording, I've been annoyed previously either having to find the next showing of something I want to series link or frantically try and press green before a recording finishes.

and an 'undelete' function for silly people like me who accidentally delete something they haven't watched instead of the thing they had watched!

So is this fully auto without any intervention by me?
Is there a list somewhere of the updates that are given?

I don't know.
It was already installed on my new/replacement HD box.
