Mooching around Richer Sounds and the salesman directed me to the LG42LM670T 42" 3D Smart telly:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/lg/42...

Now being that I still have difficulty operating the VHS player, let alone anything more modern, I'm in danger of falling for any sales patter and technical bullst thrown at me and buy the first thing I see. So before I do that I thought I'd ask the collective wisdom of Pistonheads for advice.

Telly will be in the lounge for general viewing, films, sport (mainly motorsport - bikes and cars)and I like the idea of the smart technology to watch iPlayer for when I've missed stuff.

So basically, taking the price point of this telly and looking for 42" is this best I could do, or is there something better?

Ta in advance.

If it helps I've just bought the LG 42LM620T which is a model lower than the one you're looking at (mine doesn't have Wi-Fi built in) but I am really impressed with the picture on it. Running a HD source through it, the picture is pin sharp and the colours are excellent. I also got a 3D Blu-Ray player and tried Prometheus on it.... Woah!!! I can't say that I was holding out on a decent 3D image but it's superb - there's a decent viewing angle on it and the 3D glasses are nice and light so they won't irritate you too much after a couple of hours either. If there's anything negative to say about it is that the speakers are a bit pap but I think that's parr-of-the-course with TV's these days so if you like a decent sound quality you may want to budget a bit extra for a sound bar/surround sound system.

I'd just like to add that in no way am I a home cinema expert, but I hope my comments have been of some use.
