Hi can anybody point me in the right direction. The coaxial lead that comes out of the wall socket and into my Virgin Media box is too long. Is it easy enough to cut it and just put on a new terminal? or should I buy a new lead? What type of terminal is it ?

Thanks in advance.

You'll need a male F connector. Shouldn't be a problem to cut and re-terminate with a screw on F connector.

How much is it too long ? The signal strength is affected by the length and terminations.

My engineer rewired and fitted and attenuation filter as my signal was too strong!

It's only about half a meter too long. Just makes it difficult to route tidily.

Will be fine. Just cut and fit new F connector.

I once did the same, but didn't use a crimped connector.

We had some signal issues and the engineer "threw a wobbly" at me, because we didn't use a crimped connector.

Cheers.

I was concerned about the crimping and if a special tool was required.

I'll buy something from Maplin and see how it goes. Any recommendations.

A screw on F connector should work ok.
