Evening all,

I am about to start an exciting new life in Berlin an am looking to purchase a nice new TV for my new flat. I have a question about compatibility though; will the shiny new Sony 40" I seen in John Lewis last weekend work in Germany, power cable aside? Similarly if I buy the corresponding model in Germany will I be able to use it in the UK if I relocate back in a few years?

Also I am looking to pick up the BBC iplayer, internet TV etc. What TV best facilitates this for around 1000 pound/euro?

Cheers

Yes the TV will work on the digital siganl DVB-T in the UK and Germany. Power should be ok.

You will not be able to watch most UK internet TV as it only works from a UK internet connection. There are ways round this but it is not easy. You can get UK TV via Sat.

I've no idea about TVs, but I believe you need a UK IP address to pick up iPlayer etc. Apparently it is to do with broadcast rights.

That isn't to say this problem can't be solved, but you will probably need some sort of computer to do it.
