Hi all,

Sorry if this is a commonly asked Q. I have a Panasonic Viera TXL37G10B and a set of JBL Creature II speakers. I'd like to hook these up to the telly instead of using the poor internal speakers. I realise these aren't the best speakers in the world, and they aren't really intended for use on the TV, but they're hanging around doing nothing and they'll sound better than the integrated ones. I'd like to get the volume controlled ideally via the TV remote, or via a second remote.

I initially plugged them into the headphone socket but it doesn't mute the audio on the TV - you can only adjust the speaker volume via a sub-menu. I then tried them plugged into the Audio Out RCA sockets on the back, and expectedly the volume was fixed and only adjustable via the speakers themselves.

I've seen some DAC's which would take an optical output from the TV and output to RCA. Will the volume for these be adjusted via the TV, or is it really intended for a home theatre system with a seperate remote?

Otherwise I buy a cheap amp/micro hifi system and use the remote from that to control the volume.

Thanks in advance!

I seem to remember but may be wrong my mums panasonic has an option to make the RCA outs fixed or volume controlled, try in the setup menu and see if you can see any appropriate options.

I presume the JBLs are an amplified set of speakers
