Recommend me an all in one music system

Long shot possibly...

Looking for an all in one music system for the kitchen - FM (DAB too if poss)/CD/apple compatible, thing is the apple/iphone connector needs to be deep as my phone has a case and it's a PITA to take it off each time - any recommendations? For example the ipod doc on a vita system isn't deep enough so necessitates taking the case off.

Good sound quality too please!

Have you thought of finding something you can connect you iphone to using a wireless connection? No need to dock at all then.

The ancestors have a Yamaha MCR-140 which I believe comes with a wireless connector, DAB, CD. Sounds pretty good to me.

Yes something with Airplay built in would be ideal, or purchase an airport express and plug in to any stereo with an auxiliary port.

The only downside to this IMO is you don't get a dock to charge the phone and Airplay will probably eat the battery at a fair rate.

The Yamaha has just been replaced by the MCR-B142 which uses Bluetooth rather than Yamaha's proprietary wireless iPod dock. A much better idea: http://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/desk...

Not a fan of bluetooth for audio as sound quality isn't very good.

Airplay is CD quality so actually pretty decent, certainly enough for Lossy tunes played through a small system.

Use tune in radio or similar on the phone rather than limiting yourself to something with fm and dab. The buy this. Can dock any iPhone or iPad even with a case(as long as its relatively slim case)

The problem being that the ipod doc on the top isn't deep enough for the case.

PS Sorry should've added having something that charges too would be ideal, so not via airplay, and as good as a sound doc etc is I'd rather have something with conventional FM/DAB.....

If it were my money I'd stretch to a Sonos and plug in a cheap docking station rather than buy an iPod dock and radio for £550!
