PH collective I need your help please

Getting my kids (6 & 9) a TV so will be used for TV, DVD and gaming. Given their ages I'm not going to spend a packet. Seen the following 2 options:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/panas...

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/panasonic-viera-tx-p4...

Both are the same price.

Which is better?

Or is something else a better choice?

Thanks

If you are not judging on picture quality (which is very subjective but the plasma is likely to win out), then the LCD would weigh less, generate less heat and use less power..

Yes the LCD is 4KG lighter

How difference is the likely picture quality?

Unless you're spending five figures, there's no "LED".

It's LED-backlit LCD - as opposed to LED-sidelit LCD, as opposed to boggo LCD.

The LED/LCD has a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) but the plasma is "Old Skool" (1024 x 768)

As most young children watch TV from about 30cm perhaps the LED/LCD set would be better. However I bet neither of them really care so toss a coin. Unless the TV is actually for you.

I may be wrong but the LED/LCD set would probably show a sharper picture if you ever upgrade to BluRay.
