Humax9300 500gb - still the way to go?
Discussion
Is the Humax 9300 still the DVR of choice? I want to get my parents one for Christmas to replace their convoluted way of recording stuff onto VHS(you really don't want to know!)
I know it was the default choice on here a while ago but the reviews on Amazon do seem all over the place
No point on spending the extra on the HD version as their telly is a tiny Bush LCD thing(again, don't ask!). I've got a BTVision box which has been brilliant for the past 5 years but they don't even have broadband so that is out the question.
Cheers.

It's not the simplest offering. The 9150 currently is the "baseline" HUMAX PVR but only has a 160GB disk and is now only available as a Graded product. The 9300/500 enhances it by having a HDMI connection and a display that gives you time and channel info as well as the larger disk. Most of the problems are due to Freeview updates and to be honest the 9150 we have has not had any problems. I have two 9200's, (one upgraded to 500GB), a 9150 and two HDR-FOX-T2's now and to be honest it's only the stuff FREEVIEW demand that causes me problems. One thing to watch out for is that scheduled recordings are cleared when a retune is done. The Problem being that FREEVIEW can force a retune without you knowing it.
