Ideas - Simple LCD TV stand with space for home cinema amp
Discussion
Being behind the times, I am finally thinking of changing my 32" CRT for a 42" LCD.
I have a Denon home cinema amp (powering KEF Egg speakers) and it fits ok in the stand that the CRT came with. The stand is designed to go with the TV, so not suitable for a home cinema amp.
I want to get a new stand to go with the TV, preferably no more than 900mm wide (the TV would overhang slightly each side, but that is more than wide enough for the base of the TV).
It just needs space below the TV for the amp and one other DVD-player sized-source
However, most stands I look at don't have sufficient height in the shelves for the amp. Lots of them are designed for a DVD player or similar and shelves have 16 to 20 cm between them. The amp is 19.5 cm high and needs a bit of cooling space.
Something like the stand at the link below would be ideal - I don't see why they only rate it to 37" unless they are considering CRTs. But the gap between shelves is listed as 20cm which is a bit small.
Any advice welcome.

You didn't mention budget, but if you wanted to go for a wood one, HiFi Racks do modular racks for both HiFi and AV kit. Got a multi-level one for the HiFi separates and having just got a new plasme (finally moved from the 36" CRT thats 13 years old), will shortly be ordering one for the screen and sky box etc.
When you order them, you specify what length you want the legs.
They are expensive but well made and are good quality.

Those are very nice indeed, and a good way to select exactly what dimensions you want.
But for my simple setup it would cost more than I plan to spend on the TV (42" @ ~ £600).
I found one place that sold simple stands with sufficient height in one of the shelves.
Nothing like as nice as that wooden one, but it is cheap and I think it will work. I would probably not put the castors on, they don't look nice.
£80 stand that may be suitable
