Please help with surround sound

Basically I have just a cheap surround sound 5.1 system bought from a supermarket so nothing special at all.

I have had it set up this was (see photos) & it has always worked either watching TV or DVD.
I have recently changed my Virgin Media set top box to their HD box & this is where the problem begins. The surround sound still works whilst watching DVD's but has stopped working whilst watching just the TV. I am sure somebody can help but I have gone through all the settings & changed to every possible stting to try to get it working. In the 2 photos is the way I have it set up & I can't see any other option unless somebody can tell me different? It consists of one sub woofer & 5 speakers.

The Virgin HD box doesn't give surround sound through HDMI or Scart for that matter. (Crap I know)


Why not get the Tivo box? Dirt cheap now and a brilliant bit of kit.

Managed to get it sorted this morning. The HD box does give sound by using the Scart aswel as HDMI lead & it works a treat.
