Very new to AV sound.

My Samsung TV wants to put out sound by Digital Optical and I want to connect it to an old Bose Cinemate which uses phono L/R cables. It seems this combination is the only thing that will work. Sound out via the SCART/Phono doesn't switch between the TV and PVR.

I've got a workaround at the moment via the TV's headphone socket and a phono adapter, but is this likely to give good sound? I also probably need treble adjustment because there is too much base at the moment.

I'm looking for a slim AV receiver that can accommodate digital in/phono out. Any recommendations?

I've got as far as this Panasonic VSX S300, but don't really want to spend even £200. Ideally I would pick up something cheaper on ebay once I know the reference of what I'm looking for.

Appreciate it's an obscure request, but I just sourced exactly the thing I needed for a project I'm working on via PH, so it's worth a try.

Try the VSX-C100 (old discontinued model).

I am a little far from you but I have a spare one in my garage I am deciding what to do with, if you cant source one drop me a PM.

PM sent. I think this is my solution.

I saw the digital/phono adapter on eBay. I'm a bit skeptical, but overriding that is the fact that I would like to be able to adjust treble settings. I was surprised that I couldn't do this in the TV sound menu.

Thanks very much.

No problem. Just put me out of my misery - is yours black or silver? I'll take it either way but black is preferred.

You might be able to find a second-hand Marantz NR1602 if you inhabit avforums. I think it will do what you want!
