Finally have a complete 3d setup using a pioneer sc-lx86 amp, arcam bdp300 and a Samsung 3d TV.
I seem to have some issues getting 3d movies to play from the arcam via the amp. If plugged direct to TV, there is no issue, it plays just fine but via the amp, it will not allow 3d play.
I have rigged up a ps3 and this (now updated) plays games and movies just fine.
Anyone have any thoughts?

There's a dedicated Arcam forum on avfoums.com with info about the BDP 300 on it. I was reading the thread the other day as I am thinking of getting either that or the Oppo.

Personally I'd recommend the Oppo. I have the BDP93, but I suppose you'd be looking at the newer BDP103 now. Given the various unsolved issues with the Arcam BDP100 I'd be very wary of the replacement. Shame as I have Arcam processor and power amps so the matching BluRay player would look good in the rack, but then as I pretty much only use the BluRay on my projector, then I can't see the player in the dark anyway. smile

Yes I am thinking of the Oppo though the 105 because of the audio performance...I read a lot of the stories about the BDP 100's problems.

You might have to update the amp itself as it may not be compliant with 3D HDMI. If it can be updated then all good. If it can't, then you have two options. The first is to go direct to the TV and have lossy audio via optical output or, replace the receiver. redface

Unless I'm reading it wrong, does the amp pass 3D from the PS3 as that's how I read it? Sounds like it could be a HDMI handshaking issue if the amp works with 3D from the PS3, maybe the Arcam just needs a setting changing or perhaps a firmware update?

It's a bit of a weird one. Arcam Blu ray player direct to tv plays 3d fine. Ps3 via amp or direct plays 3d fine. It's only when I try to play from the arcam via the amp it says it can't detect a 3d screen. I have also tried swapping the hdmi leads and ports. Also tried various disks, same result.

What spec HDMI leads you using? I thought you needed 1.4 for 3D. Although I'm sure I've read that some combinations are happy with 1.3.

Check AVForums.

Solved. The blu ray player was detecting the secondary input (projector) was not 3d. Unplugged it works fine

I still cannot work out why ARCAM haven't got DVD-Audio and SACD on their players. Pioneer gave up Pure BD a while ago as they could not justify the Price of their players without it.
