Search function down again frown

I am getting fed up with all the earphones I buy only lasting about 6 months. I've tried Sony, Sennheiser and Phillips amongst those that I can remember.

I use them in the gym about 6 hours a week. My partner has the same problem.

Anybody able to recommend some that are going to last?

Thanks

Used to get 2 years out of the sennheiser cx300's.

Skull candy lasted a couple of months, really bad.

Set of logitech superfi things, the triple driver ones, sound really good but the wires only lasted about 6 months, need to buy new ones at £20 or so when i can afford them.

2 sets of Sennheiser CX400 lasted about 6 months each. Amazon market place supplier had ceased trading both times frown. Then contacted Sennheiser as they come with 2 year warranty. No response and not worth chasing.

I do have some CX300 that are about 3 years old and have used them on and off when the others failed. They do seem to have lasted, but I'm not that impressed with the sound.

I guess if I'm going to buy budget I have to accept they are not going to last.

Sennheiser PMX 680s for the Gym.

Sennheiser MM 30i for the commute and office.

The above is what I've been using for the last year and both are still going strong.

The MM 30i's get maybe 6 hours use a day and seem to take abuse quite well. Doubt I'd use them in the gym though as you can tell they're not sweat/water proof!

I use RHA MA350s in the office, probably about 3-4hours a day, 5 days a week for about 10 months now. Took ages to bed in but I think they sound really good for the money and have a nice quality feel to them. Plus they are a UK company if that matters to you.

The RHA look interesting, and I can buy they straight from the manufacturer with a 3 year warranty through Amazon.

Are you sure they were genuine? There are a few snides floating about.

Looked pretty genuine, all the cardboard and sealed plastic packaging etc, and bought through Amazon. But, who knows these days?

Just noticed RHA can be bought at Maplins. Looks like a trip there tomorrow.

I have Soundmagic E10's, they sound awesome and have stood up to a fair bit of abuse so far. Seem to be of really good build quality. http://www.whathifi.com/review/soundmagic-e10

As per other thread, Brainwavz M1 or R1. Kicked the Sennheisers CX300 into touch in an A/B demo.

Sent three sets back. One ear bud would go low level. Got those RHA's mentioned above, fraction off the sound quality the Sound Magic but lets hope they last longer. Pity mind, they are excellent when they work.

Gave up on Senheiserses thingamabobs. Ones I tried were made of chocolate and crap sound quality.

That's a shame! I hope mine do not suffer the same fate. They are only a month or so old, so time will tell. Like you say they are great when working correctly.

Lots and lots of Sennheiser fakes around, and they sound horrible compared to the genuine ones. Buying through Amazon etc seems to be no guarantee of quality. In fact companies disappearing is probably a guarantee of fakes. My CX500s have lasted about 2 years so far, but I totally understand why you wouldn't want to go for another pair when the risk of getting a dud is so high.

I bought the Senheisers off Amazon as the local shops had run out. I did not go for the dirt cheap ones (too good to be true etc) and bought from the Amazon seller at s similar price to the shop and other prices indicated on line as the nrom. I suppose there is only so much you can do.

When I got them I thought WOW. They are superb. I managed around a couple of months for the first two and a few days for the last pair. Looked after them religiously, no strain or kinks etc. Always bagged or safe when not in use. Nothing was tugged etc, a real mystery but on a bit of research I am not the only one. Hope yours last, they are that good.

Try a-Jays one, just under £20 from richer sounds. On my second pair as lost the first pair. Good all rounders.
