Has anyone got it? It would resolve a lot of arguments at our house. The kids have got thier own play room with a telly in, but they only use it for the Xbox, filling our Sky planner with all thier programs, doesn't bother me too much, but the Mrs tapes all shorts of sh/te which gets deleted/ overridden. I pay about £70 -£80 a month now for phone, broadband and a fairly basic tv package(no sports/movies)so don't want to pay too much more.

  • What channels do the kids watch/record?
  • What channels do you and the OH watch/record?
  • What broadband do you have?
Maybe a Freeview or Freesat recorder will tick the TV boxes.

BT and TalkTalk offer a new YouView box with their video packages.

It's about an extra £10 a month - if you can afford that then why not?! Seems if you can afford to pay £70/£80 just now then another £10 a month isn't much of a push - could always cut down on takeaways during a month (easily £10 there!) and you're laughing.

If you've got an XBOX 360 + Gold Subscription they can already get most of the channels through the consoles Sky GO App. This assumes you've got a decent broadband connection of course. I use it quite a bit and it works really well.

You may also want to look at your subscription!! I pay only £50 a month for Sky Entertainment + Sports, Unlimited broadband, Unlimited calls and line rental. You can also pay your line rental upfront for £120 for the year saves you another £5 a month!

The kids watch/tape things like American Dad, Simpsons, The Walking Dead, Idiiot Abroad, Family Guy. 10.50/month extra for multiroom, so not too much.

Is that a retention deal then? I pay that without the sports or the calls...

Sky are trying really hard to keep their customers at the moment and giving out really good deals with their retnetions teams.. Give them a call go through the cancellation process and aim for free HD box, multiroom subscription and 25% off bill... A lot of my clients have done this recently and come away with some really good savings..

I just got multiroom added, offered £2.50 a month, free HD+ box and free install. My spend is about same as OPs, only offered above after mentioning Virgin Media

After a bit of haggling ended up staying with Sky, one off payment of £5 and £2.50/month for 12 months, Skyman's coming out on the 19th to do it.
