My Sony DVD recorder appears to have died. Great piece of kit

Freeview, HDD with DVD record/playback. e you could transfer a prog from Sky onto the HDD and the edit out all the ads and put it onto a DVD

The chap at Sony told me kit like this is no longer sold 'due to licence/copyright reasons etc'

So is ther such a beast on the market now, and if not how can i get round the problem. Wan to do a serie of Law and Order SVu for home use only
Any gizmos/legal programs (like Pinnacle Studio) that would allow me to copy original from Sky box and from thre onto the PC ,edit it and transfer to DVD .

Thanks

I think Panasonic still do them but I think they are falling victim to HDD recorders. I'd try this

But get in quickly because I think it has been replaced and the new one doesn't Blu Ray record.

Been nosing at the Panasonic twin HD freeview tuners, 720? Blu Ray as well so hopefully future proof (until next week at least).

My Sony is superb at this, does the same as yours, but it only has a small hard drive.

Edit. Doh, the one in the link above.

They really getting rid of bluray record?

Just seems to be a lack of demand. Like the CD recorders that disappeared it's easier to do it via your PC than use a device that lacks facilities under your TV.

OK. I find it easier this way, all in one box and no messing with computers to get the job done. Oh well. There we go then.

Big thread on AV Forums

Might answer the bit about transferring you need to do. I don't have a sky box so not a problem for me so bought the 720.

I've still got my Panasonic DVDR.
Poor thing has only been used half a dozen times - still got the box.
