The time has come to consider getting a nice big TV, as a serious upgrade from our years old little Panasonic flat screen. There is a jungle full of them out there, but I am opting for the LG 55LM670T which seems to tick all of the boxes and, having seen it, has a great picture - at least to my non-tutored eyes.

I underestimated the amount that decent units go for though, this one is £1349 and I expected to pay half the price! Naive I guess.

Anyone with experience of this TV? The price seem about right? The wife is banging on about getting something with as big (or 47") screen but lesser spec which will be cheaper, but it seems to me that rather than loss of functions (she doesn't care about 3D as watching will be rare)you get loss of quality, like poor refresh rate. Who is right???

Not being a frequent buyer of kit like this either, I am not sure how much a popular, good quality unit like this is likely to drop in the sales. I was told that it will not be in the Richer Sounds sale (but maybe they would say that!)so there seems little point in waiting until after Christmas. Or is there?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

For that sort of price, your money would be better spent on something like this.

Panasonic (my choice) and Sony usually win the honours for best TV in any given competition.

Our youngest has an LG 32" which has an ok picture but "cheap" sound and an unfathomable (to me) remote control and menu system.

You'll probably get a lot more advice posting in the Home Cinema area
