First post on this particular forum. I`ve recently wired my Onkyo 717 into my AV system,Freesat,Panasonic DMP BD35 disc player,Panasonic plasma,B&W VM 1 speakers and B&W sub woofer.
Sounds fine but I`m finding, even with the auxiliary volume outputs at maximum, the amplifier volume isn`t incrementally accurate i.e. with an illustrated volume range of 0-100 at anything below an indicated 25 the sound is barely audible.
Is this an Onkyo shortcoming or my setup ?
Grateful for any input.

My 715 is about normal at 25 with the individual input boxes set to max.

Have you set it up with audessy or sound meter initially, this may help.

DVD or films are always quieter and require cranking up to the teens.

Try AVforums if you're stuck.

Set up with Audyssey, currently listening with All Channel Stereo although I`ve been through the various navigation systems ,Audio,Listening Mode etc with little change.

I have a 906, I'd say the volume control behaves like the OP's, in either log or percent display, the first third of the volume control doesn't seem to do anything, normal level for films TV etc is 60-80

Looks as though it`s an Onkyo shortcoming although there`s no reference to the lack of the first 30% in any of the reviews, good amp for the $ though.
