Got a Yamaha AV Receiver from RS in August, and tonight the remote control has decided to stop working. Have tried everything (firmware update, factory reset, changing remote ID etc) to no avail. So will be taking it back after Xmas, but how are RS from a guarantee point of view? Should I just expect a direct replacement remote control, or am I gonna have to wait for the unit to be sent back to manufacturer etc? Will give them a call to find out anyway, but it's just stopped working and I'm right pissed off about it and hate waiting for a few days to find out....cheers!

No idea what they'll be able to offer, but the service and after sales care from RS has always been top notch IME.

Suck eggs suggestions.

If you point the remote at the camera in your phone you should be able to see the led transmitter flashing when you press the buttons.

Have you changed the batteries in the remote?

I wondered into Richer Sounds with a faulty 11 year old, own brand phono cable and no receipt.

They gave me a new cable & I was back out the store in 30 seconds.

They sorted out a blown up amp for me, great customer service. This was getting on for 20 years ago, though.

Yeah, I can see the transmitter flashing. Spoke to RS just now, who advised that remote controls aren't usually covered under their warranty, but as it sounds like it is likely the amp, then if I take it back in they'll give me a loan unit and send the faulty one back to Yamaha. So far so good...shame they can't just swap it for a new one seeing as its only 3 months old, but hey, at least they'll lend me one in the meantime
