I'm looking for a new TV for the "workshop" (actually a spare bedroom).

Biggest that'll fit is 27".
Needs to have a Freeview HD tuner, internet connectivity (smart), and a VGA input.

Only one I can find that fits is a Sony, list price £390, but can be found for £325. A bit expensive for a small TV in a spare room.
Surely there must be something else out there?

No point having HD on any TV smaller than 42" is the much quoted maxim. Whilst this may not be completely true will you really be able to tell the difference on a 27" ? Skip the HD requirement for Freeview and you should have lots of choice.

At "normal" viewing distances, I'd probably agree.
However, I'll be watching this from about 3 feet away - TV on wall directly behind workbench - and normal Freeview looks awful for things like F1 at this distance.
