Does anyone know of any retailers or outlets for discontinued or end-of-line TVs? Apart from ebay or gumtree. I'm thinking of something similar to The Dell Outlet but for TVs - must exist surely?

I've just moved into a rented property and have a tempting 50-60 inch gap that is crying out to be filled. I don't really want an all signing, all dancing smart tv, just something for DVDs and Gaming, plus some occasional use as a second laptop screen. Not planning to hook up to an aerial so no tuner required.

Alternatively, is using a display-only type unit a viable alternative, like the kind you find in businesses etc? are display-only screens any cheaper than your typical LCD/plasma TVs?

TIA

Try one of these places, i recommended one of them to a friend looking for a cheap option, i forget which place he wenttumbleweed He had the set for a week before it packed up. It wasn't advertised a ex display but when he got to the premises it was just a warehouse with end of line and ex display units. Hopefully you'll have more luck.

Thanks for the replies; struck lucky on Sunday and found a 40" Samsung 5000 series on sale at Curry's; last one they had - was up for £378 in their sale but I got it for £300 as it was the last one and near closing time (or so they say)! Has filled the gap just nicely. Did look in JLs as well, but even their display stuff was still only like 10% off.

Got a link?

ETA: Think I found it. Some reviews on there being reflection issues with the screen, worth checking out though, cheers. Still leaning towards the GT50 atm.
