Hello all,

I am looking to move from Sky+ to Freesat. I like the idea of getting catch up as well, but the website states you must have 2mb.

I only have about 1mb. Will it not work at all, or will it still work but take time to load?

What is the quality of programs on catch up?

Thanks.

I doubt if it will stream well on 1Mb. Log into iPlayer on your PC and try watching some programmes immediately.

Are you actually limited to 1mb in your area?

If I'm not mistaken the internet speed will only hinder the BBC iPlayer and ITVPlayer as they stream to you via the 'net. All other programming does not depend on your broadband connection.

HTH.

It will not work. You will get buffering breaks longer than it actually plays the buffer. I went from sky to the new humax free time box a couple of months ago. Had .75 meg broadband on copper. No chance of on demand. Upgraded to fibre and now getting 38 meg for an extra tenner a month and everything Internet ins absolutely fantastic. Check fibre in your area as ours has only recently come online.

I have not had any real problem with Freesat catch-up on 1 meg broadband. I feared the worst when I found that was the fastest broadband I could get but in fact it worked ok. The exchange has at last been updated so I am now luxuriating in the blistering performance of 2 meg. The catch-up player is not noticeably any different.
