Anyone else completely lost their Sky TV signal in the last few minutes? Just in time for Top Gear! frown Looking on Facebook, a few others in the local-ish area (in Essex) have nothing at all.

Oh, and before anyone else posts it:

Probably snow on the dish, if you have it as bad as I do here in Kent. Go out and brush it off the dish and you should be fine again.

That's the thing... no snow here! Isn't there supposed to be an asteroid passing near to some satellites soon?

Mine fked up middle of last week. Showed decent signal and lock, but nothing viewable. Went through the initial setup/channel scan and it all came back afterwards. We do have a pretty old box though.

Same problem here, we are just outside of Chelmsford. Sky customer services said it was an Ice Cloud in the atmosphere and is effecting CM and LU post codes.....terrible timing, just as Top Gear was about to start!!!

Fine on the South Coast...

One question - does anyone do anything to their dish?

When mine was installed, I gave all the nuts and bolts a coating of grease, to stop them rusting in case they needed to be loosened for adjustment.

And having seen quite a few rusty dishes around here, every few months I give my dish and the LNB connections a liberal spraying of WD-40 to prevent corrosion. It's been up for 7 years now and still looks as good as new. Plus, the coating of WD seems to help rainwater and snow to run off it, so in extremes of weather I've not had any signal interruption.

Although my dish is on the side of the house at 1st floor ground level, so I can get to it easily - not everyone's will be.

But these little maintenance jobs definitely help if you can access yours?!

Nothing but a shakey C5 last night and this morning near Stansted Airport frown I'm on Freesat but i guess thats the same thing.

Tempted to risk life and limb to get up to dish but if its an ice cloud as mentioned earlier then maybe not worth the bother !

Mine's working now - was wondering whether it was ice on the dish - the snow was coming down almost horizontally last night.

Because Sky broadcast to the whole country it's very, VERY rare that one individual area will have issues, usually caused by some outside factor.
