Looking to replace my CRT and Sky box. Is it possible to get a TV with twin Freesat tuners so I can record and watch two different Freesat channels at the same time? Or am I going to have to buy new TV and Humax box?

Cheers

There are not that many TV's with Freesat tuners, I know Panasonic make them but there is not that much demand. I don't know of any that have a PVR function. You are limiting your choices, I would look at a separate box for recording.

This is correct. I think Panasonic are the only manufacturer that include Freesat tuners in their TV but as far as I know that is only a single tuner. We have one and it is very good but I wouldn't buy a Panny just for that feature.

Pannys usually these days have PVR functionality if you plug in a USB disk but it is fiddly.

I would strongly recommend a separate box. We have the humax and while it isn't as good as the Sky version, it is still very good. There are better boxes available now too.

I think the 2012/2013 Panasonics don't even have Freesat Tuners now - could be wrong, but it's what I was told when looking at a specific Panny model for my mother, so it could be specific information to that model.

Just had a quick look on John Lewis' website.
They have Samsung & Panny TVs with built in Freesat, but I couldn't find one (quickly) that had dual Freesat to view one/record another channel, if they exist?
I think the TVs with the Freesat built in do still need an external recording device/hard drive.

Cheers, it's the twin tuner I'm after. Like you say, for PVR fuunction I would just use an external HD.

I haven't seen anything on the market.

Hi all, there are TV’s that have twin freesat inputs, Panasonic & Samsung sell then. You just need to plug in a usb hard drive for recording and you can set a recording just by picking a program from the tv guide and choosing record. You do need an LNB on the dish with at least two outputs or more as you will need to run to cables from the LNB to the freesat inputs at the rear of the TV this enabling you to watch one channel while recording another.

It's amazing how far technology has come since 2013!
