Toshiba 37" LCD about 5 - 6 years old.

It froze tonight, first time it's done it.

Picture still so I swapped channels, all black but sound OK.

Switched to satellite which was fine, back to TV tuner and nothing at all now. No response from remote at all.

Switched it off and back on again (from switch, not mains) ans still nothing.

Switched off at the mains for a couple of minutes and it's now working fine again.

Just idly wondering if this is something I should be budgeting for, or possibly just a reboot needed?

Could really do without the expense at the moment, but I suppose I could use this as a reason to upgrade.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. frown

Who me ?

Possibly on way out ,but poll a group of service engineers of all electronic disiplines and first port of call would be power down and up . That ranks a close second to what telecomms engineers learnt some time ago- where to thump the comms rack to cure a fault .

Well it seems OK now, so I guess the power down/up worked.

Just had a quick look for a new one but it's a bloody minefield to me. Lots of homework to be done.

Will keep fingers crossed for a while.

I see you're in the North West, we lost all channels from Winter Hill twice earlier on this evening, sometime around 8 and again at 8:20.

Well spotted I wondered what had happened and simply thought my own TV had locked up
Going back to the OP I simply suspect it is a related thing to the channels or a software lock up.
I am assuming the op has updated his channel listings

Well I do receive a signal from Winter Hill and it was around that time.

Mystery solved?

And yes, channel list updated on Saturday due to constant reminders.

All seemed OK up till going to bed last night though not tried it this morning yet.

Will try later in the week (work beckoning now)

Thanks to all.
