TV/Sound help- Sub 2k system for games/films etc

Hi all, visited John Lewis and Currys today and have left feeling rather out of my depth!

I'm after a 46/47 inch TV for playing games, 3D, films and general watching. I am pretty set on the Sonos Playbar as having heard it was blown away by its quality. So if I take £600 for that, that leaves me without around £1k for a TV. I have read that Panasonics are where it's at, but is that Plasma or LED? I don't know what is best and to be honest was not impressed by either shop as not once was I asked if I was ok/needed help, and when I did ask the bod in John Lewis said it wasn't his department and left! So felt that maybe they didn't want my money

I believe the vt50s are around 1100 now? perhaps even cheaper.

I have that tv, its a plasma and I've never been so happy with a purchase. Absolutely fantastic for films and gaming. I never appreciated proper 'blacks' before.

Thats my vote anyway
