Just planning where my AV rack will honing my house build.

Can someone tell me how big/wide a cupboard unit I need to accommodate this?

Thanks

Standard rack bay is 19 inches. Was this what you meant?

Yes thanks. It's going in a utility area in a backless cupboard so need to make sure it will take a rack

Not strictly true. Standard rack equipment is 19" wide but the rack itself will be wider. By how much depends on the material & design.

Ok - so maybe the Q should be.... I'm going to put my AV amp, sonos, blue ray and other assorted devices in a cupboard. How wide and deep does it need to be?

It depends on the manufacturer.

I usually ask for 1M Square, which then gives plenty of space around it for moving the rack etc.

Cheers Toxic - much appreciated.

VEX is working on an AV solution for me as we speak so I'm sure he can plan something like this in. Right now the kitchen designers are planning the utility area so need to ensure adequate space.

As a matter of interest - would it be a problem siting this unit in a room that has a washing machine and tumble drier? I've seen it done many times on my various house visits but should I ideally stay well away and site this stuff somewhere else? I'm struggling to find space in the house elsewhere, hence my reason for putting it in the utility, but if it's a no-no then maybe I need to do a rethink.

Thanks again.

Cheers. I never thought about the possible vibration issue, only humidity, so might need to re-think.
