Isn't that like asking is there a car that's quite good but doesn't cost to much?

What's your idea of too dear, and what's your idea of decent enough sound quality?

How big is the room? Do you expect to be able to hear it over pans boiling etc?

Yes. I bought a Lupo.

Circa £100 sort of thing. Currently have a Pure Chronos and a Countour too which are fine bar no USB facility. I'm a PC, my wife Apple.

That'll do the trick. Now weighing that up vs.

which is a little cheaper. What you reckon

Gale 3010s speakers from Richer Sounds,£49, cheap Chinese mini amp from ebay just search mini amplifiers, there are a few around £26, & a 3-5mm jack connector to your ipod or similar, & for £76 ish you would be surprised how decent it sounds.

I've looked at the pioneer system and i'm sure it's good for the money, but something inside me says the yamaha will be better built and slightly better sound quality.

These are only assumptions based on nothing more than i have a Yamaha AV amp and have had it since 1996.

It's certainly got more oomph, which is never a bad thing

Ed if you can live without USB this is great I have one.
Not clear from ad but has 3.5mm input either in the front or you can open it and put your ipod inside. Also runs from various makita drill batteries.

Also available in Makita green!

I was looking or something similar for my kitchen/diner, came across the Kitsound website and discovered "The Hive"

Not sure if you where looking or Digital Radio or not but this is simply a speaker.

Bluetooth speaker with Lithium Polymer batteries and charges via a mini usb charger with upto 10hrs use on a full charge, bluetooth to almost any device.

The sound Quality is unbelievable for such a small speaker and can be hidden discretely.

Might be worth a look @ £75.
