Marantz CD 52, CD ejection issues fix.
Discussion
There are some of these players kicking about very cheap because the CD tray fails, the problem is the tray wont eject anymore, the solution, a five pound cog off Ebay.
My player sat in the loft for a couple of years before I attempted this fix, I bought it new in 1994 and now it is as good as the day it came out of the shop.

This is the patient.
You need to unplug it both from your Amp and from the wall.
You then need to remove the top, an aerosol air duster from Maplins will blow any dust out of the innards whilst you are there.

There are these clips at the bottom of the fascia, they need to come off, as does the Headphones volume knob.
I did not completely remove the fascia, just eased it off abit.

Whatever this flap was it covered the Transport, it was removed.

That yellow cog in the middle of the picture is the problem, I removed the Tray to get at it, there were no screws but it was very fiddly.

On the left the old cog, on the right the superior stronger five quid Chinese part.

These are the tools I used.

This it back in action.
This write up is a bit vague, I did do this about a year ago though, just take your time and look out for the right screws etc and you will be fine, mine is coupled to a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic Dac and a Arcam Delta 290 Amp, it really does sound good and these players are dirt cheap, this was a common fault and loads were scrapped because of it, I used a CD 63 se for a while, but I much prefer the 52 se, more distinctive looking, plays any CD's, its a winner all around for me.
Thanks for reading.

Quality!
That looks like an Aiwa ADF810 too!
I have those two and the PM44 SE amp, but it takes a few minutes for any sound to come out of the left channel.

It is, the tape dosent work any more but I love the level meters, sad. That looks like an Aiwa ADF810 too!

Originally I bought two tape decks, believeing it was better than having a twin, the system is 19 years old, originally it had Celestion Dutton 44 speakers, then Sony APM 22es's and now Mission 773e 's, I remember a realative having a PM 44, its still going I think.

Have a CD52SE here that had the same issue except that it wasn't that cog.
What had broken was the plastic lever that is operated when you push the lower part of the tray to eject.
It had snapped the tiny plastic mouldings on the front panel that acted as the hinge.
Think of it like this, you can get a buffered one for peanuts and make a good player out of it. What had broken was the plastic lever that is operated when you push the lower part of the tray to eject.
It had snapped the tiny plastic mouldings on the front panel that acted as the hinge.

The PM44 fault is probably dry older joints. The PM66 suffered from the same issues. That looks like an Aiwa ADF810 too!

And hour with a soldering iron and all will be well again.
Leave it for long enough, and eventually it blows the output transistors.
