Help please! 16cm car component speakers

Hi all

Firstly, apologies if this is the wrong place to be asking, so mods please move if incorrect!

I am looking for a set of component 16cm car speakers to fit my TVR's door speaker holes. Now, TVR being what they were never conformed to the normal line and the 16.5cm speakers i have already wont fit. I would love to cut out the hole to make it bigger but no can do as the leather surrounding the hole curves out and is about 2cms thick-and besides i don't want to butcher the doors

I have tried various sites and ordered a 16cm component set from Car Audio Security only to be emailed a day later to say their out of stock and not selling them anymore!

Not being a car audio expert, both my mate and I who is helping me fit them are at a loss on where find a set.

Any car audio experts out there who can help please?

I had the same problem.
You will probably have to take the original grilles to a car audio shop and see what they have. I got some Pioneer ones that were nearly small enough but still had to make some minor cuts to the doors to get them in.
Alternatively look at 13cm types with larger grilles?

ISTR that the first time I changed mine they said that the OE ones were some old imperial size.

I put 16.5cm speakers in mine and made a spacer ring from MDF to mount between the speaker and the door. If you make the ring 16.5 cms in diameter and say 2.5 cms wide it will screw to the existing holes in the door and then you can screw the speaker into the ring.

A pair of Kef components it was, a few years ago now though.
