TV switching off and on?

Anyone know what's happening with my TV? 38" Philips flat TV, 8 years old.

Recently it has been switching itself off for a few seconds then coming back on. It will sometimes freeze for a minute or 2 before switching off.

Is it time for a shiney new tele?
