Panasonic Problem - TV Ghost When Watching AV
Discussion
Hi,
My Panasonic Plasma TX P42X50B has an issue, when watching a DVD / Humax you can see the Cbeebies logo faintly scrolling behind it (that is the only TV channel watched by the kids)
Is this a fault or can I "re tune" the AV somehow ?
If I turn off the DVD / Humax I see a ghost of the TV rather than a blank AV screen.
Thanks

If the image is moving, then it isn't image retention, it sounds like a problem caused by a bad scart lead
try unplugging the aerial lead when watching the dvd player, if the ghost image goes away it'd a poorly
screened scart cable.
If you're using scart to connect then then there's a pin you can disconnect in the plug
(haven't done one for years!) that'll sort the issue....

It could be crosstalk within the TV itself - it is probably sending an analogue version of what it is tuned to (Cbeebies)up the same scart as you have selected. (when you select an AV I/P it just switches away from the internal tuner, but leaves the tuner running) It is fairly common.
It will be noticeable on dark areas of picture, and text is particularly bad as it contains high frequecy transitions which crosstalk more easily.
Very distracting once you notice it.
If a better scart lead doesn't fix it, then you might need to select a 'dead' channel with no picture, although that is quite difficult these days with DOGs etc.

Update.
Switching TV onto AV gives a blurry screen half green, half red tuned into Ceebeeies (but not scrolling)
Pulling the aerial lead to the TV puts it back to a blank screen - but it would as it now hasn't got a TV signal so I'm unsure how that shows if it's a scart lead issue or an internal tuning / switching issue.
If i plug the aerial back in the screen remains blank however when I turned off the Humax tonight I saw Ceebeeies re appear.
However tomorrow I'll try another scart.
