Folks,

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Panasonic TX-P50GT60B plasma screen as it seems pretty much the best screen for the money at the mo. However, I am slightly worried about the issue of sunlight. It's living in a south facing room with the windows on the south side, TV on the west wall, and viewing position on the east wall. Not averse to pulling curtains for proper viewing, but should I be considering LEDs? Panasonic TX-L47DT65B looks good for more wedge and a smaller screen... I could get a 50" LED but it wouldn't be as high specced as the plasma for the money...

Thoughts/experiences?

My window faces roughly East, and my plasma is on the North facing wall with viewing from the south wall. So in the mornings, I get a lot of sunlight through the window but my Pioneer plasma is fine. If you wanted cinema quality you'd have to pull the curtains I guess, but for general tv there is no problem at all.

If I stand off to the side of the plasma so that I can see the window reflecting on the screen then I can't see a thing - it's just like one big mirror. But as long as the tv isn't facing a window I think it should be fine.

I've got a VT50...in a room with south facing 10ft high floor to ceiling sash windows. Gets loads of bright sunlight, the TV is on the east wall...viewing position on west wall. Viewing is no worse in bright sunlight than it was with our old Lowe CRT. It's fine.
