Hi folks.

I'm hiding speaker cable beneath new carpet so I want to run a length of cable from behind the sofa to another corner of the room. I don't want the cable attached directly at either end (to the speaker or amp) as I want to be able to move the speakers / amp easily..ie just unplug and move

How do I connect the 2 speaker wires (the one poking up from the carpet to the one from the amp at one end, then at the other end from Speaker to the other end of the wire poking out from the carpet ? I was looking at banana plugs but then I couldn't find anything to connect 2 "male" banana plugs or find a "male" / "female" equivalent without going to a speaker connection box for the wall but I don't want that.

Ideas please ?

That's exactly the kind of thing but the quality of those doesn't look great.

Does anyone know if I will I need to shield / cover them in some way if I do it like this (so they don't touch each other ??)

Neutrik speakon connectors would be the best but could be a bit big, the have 2,4 & 8 pole male and female and various mounting or style options

Hi there. I would suggest XLR connectors. Male and female available. More compact than speakons. They will need soldering though. If you cant solder then speakons are usually screwdriver friendly, if a little bulky.

A bit overkill for joining two bits end to end on a hifi!

Dear SC,

have a look on, say, CPC for stackable 4mm connector. Not pretty but does the job. There are usually both screwdriver and solder types available,
