Recommend me a bedroom TV...
Discussion
I know I should go to John Lewis or similar and spend a couple of hours taking advice, but time is short.
I'm after a smallish TV for the bedroom, I think no more than 28".
Is there anything I should be looking for or avoiding?
I have heard Samsung is the make to go for, would people agree with this?
Is it worth getting internet enabled TV, I live in a rural area and the BT broadband is not up to much at the best of times? Will I spend ages waiting for it to buffer / stream or whatever it they do?
Not really sure where to start... as you can probably tell I'm not really into this.
I don't have Sky and do not want to pay a subscription so will probably have a new Freeview Ariel installed. I think that the current TV in the lounge is running on Freesat from an old satellite dish installed by the previous owner of the property, but I will be taking it off shortly.
Any thoughts / advice appreciated.
Thanks

How much TV do you watch in bed?
When analogue was sitched off I bought a 22" LCD TV to replace the old 16" CRT. The only problem I have with it is reading the EPG without getting out of bed.
Unless you want to use iPlayer, etc. I don't think there is any benefit in a smart TV, assuming your broadband speed is sufficient.
Apart from iPlayer the only thing we do with our smart TV is Skyping our son in New Zealand, which we don't do in bed.

Not a lot really. In fact we don't watch much TV at all; maybe 1 or 2 nights a week if that.
We only switch on to watch stuff that we want to i.e. don't sit there flicking looking for something to watch.
We thought it would be nice to have one in the bedroom for nights when you are knackered and want to go to bed early and watch half an hour before sleep.
The reason I ask about internet TV is because my wife has been using her iPad to watch some iPlayer stuff lately, but from what you say probably not worth it for us? Do they need a high speed connection?

A Smart TV sounds like it may be OTT for your needs....but then the possibility of iplayer etc may give you more options to retire to bed to watch something for that half hour you talk about.....
I went for a SMART TV in the lounge thinking I'd be fine on my wifi but it really struggled at times due to the distance from my router.
If that's the case you can always go for something like the attached so long as you have 2 plug sockets near the TV location.....which was my solution and it works great...

Also consider exactly where the TV will be located and the viewing distance to consider the "right" size (not only does it fit, but what will it be like to watch at that distance)
Samsung do seem to get consistently good reviews...I switched to Samsung for lounge from Sony and haven't been disappointed.
