Right, I need to pick and then wallmount a tablet in the kitchen. Its principal use will be for Sonos and Heatmiser, which would suggest a cheapie Android of some sort, but I may be inclined towards a refurbished iFad for AppleTV/Remotes.

Googling throws up all sorts of wallmounts, but most of them cheap and nasty. Anyone attempted this? I'd quite like one with power too so I don't have to keep remembering to whip the thing off and charge it.

How about the Launchport range.

A little pricy but with an inductive charging sleeve, so no need for leads to charge it.

Blimey, that'd cost more than the tablet!

Tesco Hudl for £120? Runs the latest Android OS I think (but don't quote me on that).

hehe,

That is cheap in this game! I'll do one at cost if that helps!

If you want eye-watering, look at the iRoom stuff, thats over £1k for the wall dock!

You can buy an iPad and a Vogels wall mount.

If you only plan to run Sonos and Heatmiser it doesnt have to be the latest Retina all singing all dancing iPad - maybe an iPad 2 would be sufficient and this...

Aside - what do you think to Heatmiser?

That's a rather more tolerable price!

Heatmiser seems good - early days at the moment, and still in the midst of renovations so only two zones wired up at the moment (rads upstairs/hotwater circuit and one UFH circuit to check it works). Will in the end be 16 zones, and going to see how many extras I can plug in to the sensor and 12v trigger circuits on the Netmonitor - aiming to have full sensor suite on the biomass boiler and accumulator, plus Heatmiser app control of gates / outside lights.

Sounds like a fantastic project. We fitted U floor heating in the wetroom upstairs and its excellent, controlled by the Warmup 3iE thermostat.

Lights - have you looked at Lutron?

Still not too convinced with the Heatmiser - only a small house so we will only have 1 zone and looking at the WiFI stat as do not work 9 to 5 and coming in at odd hours.

The B&O home automation is very good - budget depending (lights, curtains, and even a coffee machine - have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtJI1o04tSM

Ta. Most of the lights will be on LightwaveRF controls, all I'm thinking of is the big outside floodlights and gate triggers, saves rushing to a handset if someone buzzes the gate.

IIRC the Wifi stat can be app-controlled too, so you can either leave it to behave preprogrammed or turn it on / shut it down remotely if you are or aren't coming home. Likewise we both work odd hours, hence going for the full system so we can alter settings even from overseas should we need to.

I'll have rethink regarding the Heatmiser in a few weeks, sadly just painted the lounge so will have to hack the wall out to lay the mains cable to the stat, shame they do not make Wireless Wifi (however the battery drain would be huge!)

Cheeky move, but you could maybe spur off a light socket...

Just ordered one this morning for £9 after using doubled-up Clubcard points. Got a good write up in Times last Sunday.
