SACD / XRCD - where to buy / what's available?

Where do people buy their SACD's from? Or even XRCD's?

Amazon in the UK have a small stock and the rest seem be from sellers abroad.

Also, is there anyway of finding out what recordings were produced? I don't mind hunting for second-hand copies but I'm not sure what to look for - the vast majority of recordings listed seem to be for quite obscure artists or those that I'm not interested in.

If you have a universal player, also have a look for DVD-Audio disks. Higher quality and more channels than an SACD.

I have a universal player but only a stereo set-up. So only interested in the increased quality, rather than the channels. Can you also get BLU-RAY Audio disks or have I dreamt that?

I think blu-ray uses its own HD audio format.

Most of my DVD-Audio discs are by Porcupine Tree (prog rock) mixed into 5.1, but they also contain 192kHz/24 bit tracks

Most New SACD's are from Japan. if you check Ebay for the Queen re-releases it should lead you to the Japanese seller's who have stock. Universal have done those and they are SACD stereo ONLY along with the others they have released. I Think they include such as T-Rex.

Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel and Sting are amongst those to have second hand relaese on Ebay. "Sacred Love" by Sting and "War of the Worlds" are brilliant and are only a few quid. Most Peter Gabriel and Depeche Mode release's are getting silly money. The Blu Ray discs are released by Universal and are at least 24bit 96KHZ. They are looking at various artists but among the initial releases are Nirvana's "In Utereo" and "Nevermind".

I have a few SACD's and DVD-Audio's including all the Depeche Mode ones and they do sound really good compared to CD.
