At last - I've joined the 21st C!
Discussion
18yrs ago we bought a JVC TV with stereo. It was one of the last CRT jobs, and had brilliant sound for just a TV (5 speakers in the cabinet!)
So - we've now moved into the modern world with a 40" Samsung series 5 , Denon AVx100 receiver with streaming, my old MS10s and I've bought an REL Quake and an MS centre speaker.
After a few days of pure faffing about, I've got it working. (I had to look up how to connect optical cable, ok now I've removed the end caps!) The Denon will automatically pick up the streamed audio from my NAS drive, and the TV gets the stored pictures. Never had a sub before and the Quake which is a low end REL is bloody fantastic.
The best bit though, is the ability to use my phone or the Samsung tablet to control the amp, and to 'throw' videos from from the 'net at the TV. Utube has become much more fun!
I've discovered that much of the music I had just downloaded and stored on the computer sounds much better through a proper set of speakers!
It's all pretty ordinary compared with many of the systems I've seen on here - but I'm bloody pleased!

MS25i's were the first thing I ever bought when I started my first part-time job. I still have them (I use them as temporary speaker stands) but sadly one fell on a plug and had it's woofer pierced.Nice, clear, detailed sound but I never quite got the bass response and depth of sound I wanted...it was either very thin in free space or too boomy if near a wall and never did find a sweet spot in between. I imagine they'd work well as part of a film set up with a subwoofer though.
