DVD picture disappearing.
Discussion
Having just solved the issue of watching VHS tapes, I have a problem with the DVD. I have a new Panasonic TV and a new Sony DVD player, connected by HDMI. While watching a DVD, the picture will intermittently disappear. Somestimes it comes back of its own accord, other times I have to switch off and on again. (even then it doesn't work consistently. When I switch the TV to AV, it sometimes just shows the connection HDMI2, other times it works OK.
I've checked the connections both ends, they seem OK.

Having lashed out £20 for the one i've got, I'm a bit reluctant to do that.
You must know someone with an HDMI lead??I've bought lots from Amazon for £2.99 each and never had a problems with them. The price is no guarantee of the quality or that your particular lead isn't faulty.
Need to check the simple, cheap things first, before investigating any further.
I'd double check that it's properly seated in the player and the TV. I had a weird effect recently where my BluRay player worked fine on DVDs but not with BluRay (upscaling is done externally so DVD output only at 576i). It turned out the HDMI cable was just about touching the connector in the video processor, worked fine once I plugged it in properly...
