Me again, different question this time.

I recently bought an old fashioned stack of HI-Fi equipment contained in a cabinet from a charity shop and about to start putting it together again. It's got good stuff, Pioneer PL-640 turntable, PD7010 CD player, Denon DRA426 Receiver and a Denon Cassette deck. There doesn't appear to be an amp, but there is a Pioneer DT540 digital timer.

My questions are:

What's the timer for and does it double-up for an amp?
What sort of amp should I look for?

I'm not a great hi-fi buff (you can tell), but just want something to play all my old music on. To give an idea of my budget I paid £30 for the stuff above. rolleyes

Does the pioneer look like this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaobUW56gcs&fe...

That is literally a clock with the ability to switch the power outlets on the back. You then plug your amp and other devices in and it can switch them on and off. I'd be tempted to leave it disconnected unless it looks really cool or you need a clock.

Is the Devon DRA like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DENON-DRA-425-Precision-Au...

A receiver is just another term for an amp with a radio tuner built in (although the term can be used to describe a separate tuner) so it does sound like you have an amp.

Pretty much exactly the same. Thought it mus be an amp, as no room for anything else in the stack. Now I must get down to connecting everything up!
