I've got a AMD Radeon HD 7900 graphic card in my pc.

I've also recently got bought a Samsung Lcd TV (Le37m87bd) which is across the room from my PC and to which i've got the PS3 hooked up.

I've now bought an HDMI cable to hook up the pc to that tv as well.

I plugged the cable into the back of the radeon card, and then other end into one of the hdmi ports of the tv, and initially i thought it worked, as i got my desktop background picture on the tv.

But then i noticed there were no icons, and nothing actually moved on the tv when doing stuff on the pc, it was just my frozen desktop background.

Then the screen went all funny (green/yellow "snow" and jumping lines) so switched tv off for a while.

Tv works again ok now, so i've just updated my drivers on the radeon card to the latest version, switched pc off, and back on. But when i change the source on the tv back to hdmi3 (where the pc is connected to) i get my frozen background screen again.

Also tried putting the hdmi cable in the back of my pc monitor instead of the graphic card, but to no avail.

Any tips/advice on what i'm doing wrong ?

Is the PC setting the TV up as a second display rather than mirroring the first display?

Press the windows key and 'p' at the same time then select duplicate from the menu that comes up. Sorted.
