Evening all.
I need some direction.
I posted a thread a while ago about reducing the space taken up by my current set up and replacing with a smaller set up so the general consensus was that if i were to do that then i should consider an exceptional budget.
My set up is as follows:
My TV (Samsung Smart) runs Plex. Plex connects via wireless to a Plex server which has an NFS mount attached from my QNAP NAS. All of this works swimmingly. The TV has an Optical input to my Onkyo 309 amp and this then distributes sound to 2 Mission speakers and a Paradigm sub. All old kit but sounds amazing.
I've came to the conclusion that i'm going to have to downsize if i am to keep with Mrs GLA's decoration plans as she 'hates those big black things'.
So, i've looked at sound bars, Sonos, Linn and Bose. For a budget of ~£500 what can be done? I love the sound the set up gives me when i want it. Proper Cinema experience from 3 speakers.
Over to you!

My setup is more modest but I too am v.pleased.
I have a 3.1 system. Bookshelf MS10s either side of the TV, small centre speaker in the bookshelf underneath the TV and a small sub.
The speakers are all within the shelving around the TV and the centre speaker really lifts the dialogue.
I have an old REL Quake sub, which I can tune to fit in 'underneath' the bookshelf MS10s in audio range. It has separate inputs; high level to share the with the main speakers and effectively make them sound as if they have a proper bass driver, and an LFE input from the amp for the effects booms on the soundtrack.

A sound at won't come close to what you are used to, but if you like the Paradigm sub, have a look at their soundbar. You won't get one for £500 though
I like this idea. I could find £300 down the back of the sofa
