Dead Cyrus AV Processor - where next?
Discussion
My Cyrus AV8 gave up the ghost yesterday, and just to add insult to injury the AV5 I had in storage also appears to be dead, and just to kick me while I'm down, it seems the digital out from my DVD8 is also dead (although oddly the stereo out is fine!)
Rest of the system is: Stream XP, DAC XP, CD7, DAB X, 3x aPA7, 1x XPA, coupled to Mission E83/E8c/M7ds speakers.
So I need a new AV processor and (less important), DVD player.
Any suggestions, other than diving into the second hand market for a replacement Cyrus unit? AV processors / pre-amps don't seem popular any more.
The other options I guess would be to run two separate systems and buy an AV Amp... but speaker cabling could be fun I suspect.

Arcam av8 s/h is excellent value for money and should go well with your Cyrus set up.
Nice to see you're running the e83's, I worked at mission for a while and always liked these.

Should be cheap enough too: I recently struggled to sell my old AV9 and only got £400 for it in immaculate condition.Nice to see you're running the e83's, I worked at mission for a while and always liked these.

Ironically I'm the inverse to the OP as my Arcam P1000 power amp packed up last weekend. Lucky that I was using it with an AVR as a pre amp, so I've just reverted to using the AVR alone for now. TBH I've found that I couldn't tell any difference between the different amps or without power amps, so my ignorant might just save me money for once (only to be spent on other AV 'necessities' of course

AV9 looks a good bet, except the cheapest on eBay is £899! Might be watching TV in stereo for a while I think!Ironically I'm the inverse to the OP as my Arcam P1000 power amp packed up last weekend. ).Put a wanted advert up on AVforums (and read the rules carefully too if you are a new member especially regarding no dealing via PM). Since I struggled to get even £400 for mine then £899 is a total rip off IMHO. It was good with stereo too, though since I tend to mostly use it's replacement for film watching I'm more than happy with the results since I now have decent room EQ in the form of Audyssey XT32.
