My Wifi is very far away for where the TV is, through thick walls. Would a wifi booster be powerful enough to talk to a new Sky+ box? I don't want to run cables through walls, door frames or under guttering.

Next dumb question. Can two Routers be run off one phone line?

As you can tell, I'm a real numpty at this tech stuff.

Grateful for any advice.

No you can't run two routers. If you need more LAN sockets then you need a "network switch".
Best (most common) way to get around a wifi limitation is to use "powerline adapters" which use magic to send the network over your house mains cables. Plug one in near the router, and one near the sky box. Network cable from router to 1st plug, and another from 2nd plug to sky box. Done.

Just use a second router as a 'bridge' or repeater, which can be placed much closer to your Sky+ box.

If you wanted to do that then you could just get a proper wireless repeater, which is easier to setup.

I use powerlines around my 70s house and it works fine for the Sky box and everything else.

If you have Sky broadband they're currently giving out Wi-Fi boosters for free:

Huh? You only need a phone line for Sky broadband. Are you thinking of fibre optic?

I would try the powerline adaptors as they sound like your best bet.

...Or in parts of the Kingdom of Yorkshire it seems. Entered postcode and phone number into sky online bb availability check to be told it's not currently available in my area! I'm currently with TalkTalk which is ste so was considering switching and since a mate who lives round the corner has his bb provided by sky and is on the same exchange thought it would be straightforward. I spoke to sky who confirmed that bb was not available at my address but couldn't explain why!?!?! Just to confirm that this is not the new fangled fibre optic thingy but plain old bb, can anyone offer an explanation why this is the case?
Apologies to op for drifting off topic.

If I order these, do I have to get anything extra? LAN cables needed?

Cheers

LAN cables will be required.

I bought similar from Maplins last month, very easy to set up, wish I had done it ages ago.

Had the same problem you describe, perfect fix. Look for one that allows you to connect multiple bits of kit.

We have the skybox, ps4, AV receiver and TV connected through one plug socket.
