I am really annoyed about the order of Sky TV channels.

BBC 1 - standard def
BBC 2 HD
ITV - standard def
CH4 - standard
CH 5 - standard dep
and then about 2 pages down the HD channels for the terrestrial

I am a HD subscriber and would like the channels to be in HD order.

Yep it is annoying. Why did they change BBC2 HD from 142 to 102 and not the rest?

I just use the 'favourites' list most of the time now.

Because BBC2 is the same regardless of what region you're in, whereas BBC1 standard definition on 101 is your local BBC1 region based on the postcode Sky have for you. So they can't put BBC1 HD on 101 because they don't run an HD feed of the local bits of BBC1.

Very good point. Still annoying though.

No excuse for CH4 and 5 though, their content is national

Much rather see those in HD at the top of the list, rather than hunting them down!

BBC wales SD (101) is now BBC wales HD (101)

I would assume that they will get complaints from the old fuddy duddys if they change things round.

BBC Wales, Scotland and NI are channels that have a much larger range than some other channel regions in England. They also produce their own news etc and have bigger broadcast facilities than many 'local' BBC stations.

The BBC themselves decide what channels are replaced by their HD versions and then tell Sky what to show.

Regarding Channel 4 and Channel 5 there ARE regional differences but it's mainly based around the adverts that are shown rather than any major difference in programming. The main HD feed for Channel 4 is based around Channel 4 London so you might see adverts relating to London companies or offers for example.

But so what? I'm always going to watch the HD channel anyway.

I really don't know why they won't put a favourites option in there, so I can just have my favourite channels in the order I want them.

I never watch any SD anymore, so just searching through the HD menu is not too bad, but I wish I could arrange my top channels all on one page.

Some of the channels pay Sky for an 'elevated' position on the TV guide and OFCOM mandated that the 'PSB' channels (Public Service Broadcasters, basically the terrestrial ones) have to be the first 5 channels on the list. You can setup a favourites list using the blue button.

Yeah but it is not the same, takes you to the last channel you watched now and then you cycle through again.

All my TVs allow me to set up the channel list with only the channels I watch, which makes it so much easier to browse what is on.

Oh, and why don't they just show BBC London on BBC1 HD instead of nothing when it switches to regional??!!

EU regulations on access to local programming via non-terrestrial distribution.

This annoys me too. Oddly I know lots of folk that have HD boxes and HD tellies but still watch SD because the EPG is so haphazardly laid out.
