I've had one of these for a year or so, and am generally happy with it. However, just recently, it's begun to respond to the remote control incredibly slowly.

It's actually a bit painful browsing the guide because it takes a couple of seconds to respond to each button press. I've replaced the r/c batteries, and it's made bugger all difference.

Any ideas for a fix?

II have also Googled this, and no, I haven't left a heavy book resting on another remote...

  1. Have you asked Humax?
  2. Have you looked on the various Humax forums?

1. No, because they are notoriously poor at responding to customer questions
2. No, because they are good at reciting the same old answers, none of which have resolved my issue

Try updating the firmware. This may resolve the issue.

http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Firmware_Downloads

Stick to the official SW releases and not the community downloads (if possible).

Try: 1.02.32.....Release Date : 31/01/2013, if that doesnt help, try: 1.03.06..... (Not an official Humax download but one made by the custom firmware community using firmware extracted from a unit running 1.03.06)

Its easy enough to do. Store firmware onto a usb memory stick and insert into humax box, with mains off, once stick is in, turn power on.

Updating the firmware on my box, helped reception on HD channels massivly.

Good luck.

I have a feeling I did this sometime last year, but I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

There was a recent firmware update that could have caused the problem. Try reinstalling it from a usb stick.

It turns out that all the Version 1.03.xx firmware updates have a serious EPG lag.

I've downdated to 1.02.32, and it's whizzy again. Yay!

Not had a problem myself. EPG reacts normally. Now the Old 9200T is slow! I'm trying to persuade the wife to let her Mother have it she can have the FOX and I'll get a 2000.

Mine was bad, and just got worse over the last few days. Go to EPG, press down (or page down, or page up, or right or whatever), and the reaction time was at almost four seconds!

Now it's back to it's old self, and I'm happy.

It seems that the number of scheduled programmes you have can affect speed, and my missus does enjoy American Cop Bilge...

I was also getting slow response but I haven't updated firmware for ages.

I just pulled out the antenna plug, retuned to clear the channel memory, plugged the antenna back in, retuned again and it's back to normal.

have there been any firmware updates recently that add anything worth having? Improved TV portal?

Mine threw a minor tantrum the other day and said there were no channels tuned so I had to rerun set up again. This is a pain because I prefer to use a reduced 'Favourites' EPG setting, so I had to create that again (thankfully I'd written it down from the last time). The big pain is that you have to redo all your scheduled recordings...I find it hard enough to remember what I was watching before the adverts came on, let alone what programs I'd set to series record. It'll take me a week or two of realising I've missed a program or two before I get them all set back up again.

Other than that it's been a great PVR for the last 3(maybe more?) years I've had it. I just take it for granted to watch things timeshifted if I miss the start, or use the recording list like another channel when there's nothing on live TV I fancy watching.

Custom firmware allows you to back your scheduled recordings and favourites up. Very handy.

Good to know page3, I'll look into that.
