Freeview + HD PVR Recommendation
Discussion
Hi all,
My Youview box (DTR T1000) is in need of replacement as the hard drive is knackered. I purchased a Humax HDR-2000T but could not get a decent reception from the box with the signal repeatedly cutting out. Can anyone recommend an alternative PVR with a 500GB hard drive and BBC Iplayer included. My budget is around £200.
Thanks

Why not replace the hard drive or am I missing something here?maniac886 said:

So did the DTR T1000 suffer from the same reception problem? I take it you have returned the HDR-2000T to the shop.FlossyThePig said:

To DIY,I'd suggest you look at http://www.maplin.co.uk/search?text=signal+testers... When aligning, I look for max signal ( most LED lit), then swing to drop a LED, pass through max to drop another LED, then pick the mid point. Again is cable not damaged/ got connection problems. Any damage on aerial .Contrary to what's said ,it's a reasonably precision bit of kit. There's a mathematical relationship between all the elements. It used to be possible to make one from the station frequencies ,but these days, a lot( if not all areas) need a wideband one.
I'd recommend HUMAX. They had problems on the older ones. IMHO-possible processor and memory speed problems, but a decent bit of kit despite this. A lot easier to use than some rivals .

I upgraded my Humax 9200-T with a 500GB SATA hard drive easily once I knew which drive to get. Send me your old Box and I reckon I would have a working one pretty soon. As an aside I have no problems with the FOX HDR-T2 which is going cheap on the Humaxdirect web shop. It has Iplayer on board once linked to the web.

Hi telecat, I have given it to a mate of mine who is going have a look at the box to see if he can fix it but will probably let him keep it anyway but thanks for the offer. In conclusion to the thread the new box from Humax Direct has arrived and is working perfectly. I am getting around 80% signal strength and 100% signal quality on quite a few channels. Thanks for everyones help!
