Best bookshelf speaker for sub £150
Discussion
Currently got some cheaply Wharfedale diamond 9.0 connected to my ac receiver with a sub...
I want to upgrade the speakers and looking at Richer sounds, it appears that the best options are the Mission MX1 or the cambridge audio s30s?
I'm after a nice balanced sound with good treble, which it feel is a touch lacking in my current Diamonds
Is there any particular speaker which jumps out as being THE best ?
I'd love to test purchase but sadly I rarely get time to go in store and rely on reviews to do the legwork!

Get yourself some second hand Quad 11L's?
Superb speakers but at that price level significantly more money. Up to the OP Quad are wonderful performers but may break the budget? He may prefer new?I personally love Lowthers fitted into two Voigt's Corner Horns but sadly not an option any more. Because my collection of cars (daft numbers) already causes more than enough friction. Still the best sound I have ever heard bar none apart from Lowthers in two 25 foot quarter wave underfloor concrete corner years ago (25+) using a Class A amp and that remains so to date. Only the Albert Hall organ on the 32 foot pipe can outblast them IMO. Isn't High Fi fun!

I personally rate the Cambridge kit very highly but the Mission speakers are well reviewed. With a separate sub the clinical Cambridge might be the better choice. There are a lot of decent speakers about. Good luck with the search.
Melikes the Cambridge kit too. For the price point they've done me well enough. Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
