Is one of these cheap chinese 4k HD tv's worth a punt? a quarter of the price of a branded one and they seem to get half decent feedback on hotukdeals.

If you aren't too worried about getting the full 4k experience, why not? Change for a dearer one later on.

So how close do you have to sit to get the 4K benefit?

Probably 5-6 feet. You'd tell the difference up to about 10 feet though.

The reviews on hotukdeals look ok, its about 1/4 the price of the cheapest at the min, pixmania are a reputable seller, what could go wrong?

Well the telly could be crap i suppose!

I have a 39 inch SKYWORTH
Not massive
We bought (household shipment) it when we lived in China and brought it back.

For what we paid, we are very happy.

Far better picture than the 50 inch Panasonic we have, plus it has so much more "rear end goodies" including direct internet live movie streaming from Coocaa

How do you mean? 4k tends to me Quad HD or UHD as some people call it. In broadcast 4k in the truest sense doesn't really exist

I might be missing something here, but what are you going to watch in 4k on your nice new 4k telly?

The early screens won't support things that will be standard on later 4k televisions. Things like HDMI 2.0, 10 bit colour and the very high framerates that will characterise UHD will likely be absent.

Could you attach this to a high end PC and run games at that native resolution?
May need to have a couple of very high end cards, but is it possible?
