For the first time in about 17 years I bought a new stereo.

Nothing amazing just an Onkyo TXNR626 and some nice Cambridge Audio floor standers. I went for the Onkyo as it came with a wireless doodah and was enabled for Spotify streaming which is where I get all of my music from.

The only issue is to get Spotify working on the Onkyo you either need to do it with the remote which is mind numbing, or through their utterly dire, unreliable, clunky, glitchy, non user friendly iPad app.

So before I just resign myself to plugging the iPad into the amp directly, is there another way I can stream music to to the amp without having to bugger around with Onkyo's own app?

Thanks

Buy the cheapest used iPod touch you can find .

Install spotify on it. (Assuming you have premium)

Plug it into the mains, and your amp.

Use spotify connect on the iPad to control what is playing on the old touch.

Because you are not streaming the battery shouldn't get hammered

You could get a sonos connect, plug into existing amp and do it that way?

Solid idea, should work perfectly, but I've had noting but trouble using Apple Airport Express this way.

Would really love it to work, but they just constantly drop out & need resetting.
Apple Store 'Genius's' just gave up & said I must live in a house with 'Severe interference issues'

The units are sat in a drawer now.

Logitech Bluetooth wireless adapter.

Connect iPad to that via Bluetooth. Stream to adapter which is plugged in to amp via Spotify app.

This:-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/WiFi-Audio-Music-Receiver-...

WiFi Audio Receiver

Works exactly like a Sonos Connect or AirPort Express, but costs £35.

Don't go for the bluetooth adapters that have been mentioned above. They compress the sound and sound awful.

This receiver will allow any device on your home network to stream audio to whatever sound system it is connected to. It also acts a WiFi repeater, extending your homes WiFi range. Works flawlessly with AirPlay on any Apple device.

Best £35 I have spent in a long time.

I use an Arcam rDAC. rWave USB dongle on the laptop, rDAC plugged into my Arcam A18. Sounds sweeeeet, better than airplay did.

Typed listening to "instant crush" on the above setup biggrin

Gents thank you so much for the help & suggestions!

SoulBroNo1 suggestion came up trumps. Going to order one of the devices they recommended. For £30 odd I can't go wrong.

Sonos connect + Spotify Premium. Use the sonos app on your iPad. A few on ebay. you do need a Sonos bridge with that solution though.
